The pick is in: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
And Southern California Democrats were quick to praise Vice President Kamala reported choice for a running mate early Tuesday morning, saying the progressive congressman-turned-governor would help energize the ticket. Harris revealed Walz, 60, as her pick on social media, and they are expected to make their first appearance together at a rally later Tuesday evening in Philadelphia.
“Gov. Walz will be a perfect complement to the Harris ticket, and hugely effective on the campaign trail in key states. With his plain-spoken demeanor, he knows how to advocate common sense policies that improve the lives of all Americans,” Rep. Adam Schiff, a Burbank Democrat who is running for U.S. Senate. “Harris-Walz will be well equipped to deliver a clear vision for the future and contrast that forward-looking message with the shambolic horror show that is Trump-Vance.”

Rep. Mike Levin, D-San Juan Capistrano, was an early supporter of President Joe Biden’s exit from the race, even telling the president that directly before Biden had made such a decision. Levin said he was “excited” that Harris picked Walz as her running mate.
“In the fight for the future of our country, Tim has what it takes to defeat the MAGA extremist Trump-Vance ticket and drive our nation forward,” said Levin in an early morning social media post.

“A retired educator and beloved governor, Tim Walz is a GREAT VP pick,” said Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Los Angeles, in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Waltz recently joined a “#DadsForKamala call,” said Gomez, and he “stood out as a smart, relatable and honest guy.”
“It’s clear that he loves his family and his country, and that he’ll fight for all of us alongside Kamala Harris,” said Gomez.
A spokesperson for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump sought to tie Walz, who grew up in Nebraska, to California.
“It’s no surprise that San Francisco Liberal Kamala Harris wants West Coast wannabe Tim Walz as her running-mate – Walz has spent his governorship trying to reshape Minnesota in the image of the Golden State,” said Karoline Leavitt, a Trump campaign press secretary. “From proposing his own carbon-free agenda to suggesting stricter emission standards for gas-powered cars, and embracing policies to allow convicted felons to vote, Walz is obsessed with spreading California’s dangerously liberal agenda far and wide.”
