Need to cool off but can’t make it to the beach? These 21 parks across Orange County are providing splash pad playgrounds as alternative ways to beat the heat.
Aliso Viejo: Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center at 29 Santa Barbara Dr., has a splash pad available alongside lap, baby and recreation pools. Passes are required to use the splash pad and other facilities, which can be purchased on the Aquatic Center’s website. Hours vary day-to-day.
Anaheim: Miraloma Park (2600 East Miraloma Way) and Ponderosa Park (2113 South Mountain View Ave.) have free splash pads for community use this summer. Both parks are open daily from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Fullerton: Four different free splash pads throughout the city provide options for the community. The “spray pools” at Adlena Park (300 N. Adlena Dr.), Lemon Park (701 S. Lemon St.) and Valencia Park (2425 W. Valencia Dr.) are open daily from noon to 5 pm.
The Fullerton Downtown Plaza, located at 125 E. Wilshire Ave., is also open daily from noon to 5 p.m.
Garden Grove: The splash pad at the Atlantis Play Center (13630 Atlantis Way) features animals and sea creatures for kids to enjoy while cooling off. It costs $2 for children ages 3 and up — cash only — but is free for younger kids. The park is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays noon to 4 p.m.
Irvine: Heritage Community Park has a small splash pad for children to cool off after playing at one of the many playground sets. Located at 14301 Yale Ave., the park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is free to use.
La Habra: Brio Park, at 300 S. Euclid St., and Oeste Park, at 2300 W. Lambert Rd., are open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On weekends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the La Habra Recreation Division and the Children’s Museum at La Habra lead “splashtivities” for the children. A full list of activities can be found on La Habra’s website.
Laguna Niguel: Crown Valley Park’s splash pad is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is free to use. The park is located at 29751 Crown Valley Pkwy.
Mission Viejo: The Montanoso Recreation Center has a splash pad available for all ages this summer. Located at 25800 Montanoso Dr., the center also offers a 25-yard pool and jacuzzi. Passes are required for the splash pad and accompanying facilities, which are $8 for adults and $4 for children. Rancho Santa Margarita: The splash pad at the city’s Central Park is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Located at 30842 La Miranda, it features sprayers, bubblers, dumping buckets and misters.
Stanton: This train-themed splash pad is located at Central Park, 10660 Western Ave. The park is free to the public from noon to 5 p.m. daily.
Tustin: The city has two splash pads for families to enjoy for free: Frontier Park at 1400 Mitchell Ave., and Pioneer Road Park at 10250 Pioneer Rd. Both parks are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Westminister: The city has one splash pad, and it’s at Sigler Park, 7200 Plaza St. The splash pad is open daily from noon to 5 p.m.

Yorba Linda: Alongside a play structure, zipline and wiffleball field, the Adventure Playground has a full splash pad and waterslide. The park, located at 4601 Casa Loma Ave., is open Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the weekends. The waterslide is open only on weekends from noon to 5 p.m.
