A string of recent vegetation fires in San Juan Capistrano has led authorities to seek the public’s help in identifying the culprit or culprits.
The most recent fire occurred last Tuesday, June 25, in the area near Calle Arroyo, next to San Juan Creek, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
Less than an hour later, a second fire ignited about a mile away.
Both fires were contained to less than an acre, said OCFA Capt. Thanh Nguyen.
There have been other suspicious vegetation fires in recent months, Nguyen said, but information on where and when those occurred was not immediately available.
The OCFA and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department have asked that anyone with information about the fires to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 714-647-7000.
