Landsea Homes has begun construction on 44 townhomes in Anaheim across the street from a project the homebuilder recently sold out.
The Mason community at Lincoln Avenue and Laxore Street will have three-story townhomes in four floor plans ranging from 772 to 2,007 square feet and two to four bedrooms.
Pricing has yet to be determined.
“From amazing recreation and tourist attractions to a wealth of shopping and dining options, Anaheim is a great city to live in Orange County. Our new homes at Mason will provide the perfect blend of high-quality, modern living at an attainable price point for the area,” said Tom Baine, the California division president.
Across the street, Landsea sold out its Nolin community of 65 three-story townhomes in December. The homes were on the market less than two years. Those homes — which ranged from 1,084 to 2,001 square feet, with up to four bedrooms — sold for an average $815,000.
“We anticipate interest for Mason to be just as strong,” Bain said.
Sales for local homebuilders have slowed in the past year as they faced twin challenges.
High mortgage rates pruned the number of qualified house hunters. At the same time, land to build new homes is hard to find. Consultants at Zonda estimate lot supply is Orange and Los Angeles counties is 85% below normal.
Orange County new home sales totaled 2,038 in the year ended in March, down 16% in a year. Across six-county Southern California, builders sold 14,349 residences in the same period – off 22% in the year.
