With the help of a forensic artist from the Miami-Dade Police Department, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department has released an updated forensic rendering of a woman whose body was found on the side of Ortega Highway in 2006; and is seeking help from the public in identifying the woman.
On Jan. 31, 2006, a pair of sightseers discovered the woman roughly 10 feet below a cliff, barefoot, dressed in blue jeans and a black Lycra top. Authorities described the Jane Doe as a 105-pound Latina woman between 20 to 30 years old, with dark-colored hair down to her mid-back, a rose stem tattoo on her left forearm and manicured nails with a heart-shaped design underneath a french tip.
The woman also had a surgical scar on her navel, which could have been from a cesarean section.
An official cause of death has not been established. Investigators previously told the Orange County Register that the victim may have died elsewhere before she was placed by a highway turnout about three miles from the Riverside County line.
